“Death opens unknown doors. It is most grand to die.”
Death is the only thing that we as humans are guaranteed, once we are born. Deciding how to deal with this can either complicate or simplify a life. We naturally fear death, and are curious to find out all that is unknown about what happens after one has died. Who knows what doors lie ahead of a person once they are no longer living? Should we dismiss the thoughts of an after life, or wait to think about this when we are walking down deaths hallway? point I did not have much of an emotional reaction to the news. However, I knew that her death would devastate her mother. I doubt any parent takes the death of their child well, a parent never expects to witness the funeral of their child.
My family is invited to the funeral, and we assure the couple we will attend. The following morning my mother, brother and I embark on the trip. It was held at Rosehills in a little white chapel on a hill. We park in a sea of tightly parked cars and walk towards the chapel. I see my aunts outside holding hands, shedding tears, and one depending on the other for support. Their eyes are red from prolonged crying, and their hands, clenched tight with tissue. They greet their every guest with a smile, extreme appreciation, and love.
