I remember winning my first soccer tournament. It was a momentous occasion for me and my team was happy we could win. It was our team’s first soccer tournament and we won it. I was only about nine or ten and our tournament was in Ridgefield, Ct. We traveled up to a hotel on Friday, and the tournament began Saturday when our team won its first two games. Then on Sunday with the sun shinning brightly our team had to play the toughest team in the tournament (besides us of course). The winner of this match would obviously win the tournament. Then I saw the referee signal a penalty kick. My coach pointed to me…I knew what I had to do. There was only about 2 minutes left so I knew if I made this, I would be the hero and my team would win. I was ready to take it now.. BRRRRR (the whistle) GGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL!
I had scored and completed my hat-trick filled season. Our team did it, won our first tournament. Once I saw the trophies we had won my day was complete. I felt sooo great. It was a perfect day, and I would repeat it over and over again if I had the chance. The trophy that our team had won that day is still on my desk today.
One of the worst times in my life occurred when my grandfather died. I remember the funeral, sad and dull. My grandfather died last May and it was terrible. I remember when my mother woke me up and told me Papa died. Then, my father had to tell my grandmother the devastating news.
