Personal Writing: Realizing My Powers

As a learner, I have experienced many successes and accomplishments
over the past seventeen years. One of which I recall very early in life.
I learned to tie my shoes at the age of two. This accomplishment meant a
lot then because it showed my parents and others that I had the ability to
learn quickly. I found that I could practice something for long enough and
get good at it. I was encouraged because my brother, who is older than me,
could not tie his shoes, and I could tie them for him. Learning to tie my
shoes at such a young age helped me to begin other things early also, which
contributed to other accomplishments in life.

take food to those that cannot get out and come to church. This service
helps each person in the youth group to think of others and realize the
fact that there are many unfortunate people in the community.
During my eleventh grade year, I helped to get the FCA started. We
have always had one for people to take pictures with, but we began to have
meetings and devotions. Now the FCA meets every Friday after school. I
feel that this has helped me to become a leader, and see how it is to begin
something that needs to be done. Every year my youth group also adopts a
family at Christmas. I feel good about myself when I go shopping for needy
people. We buy them things that they want and need. The children of the
family feel like someone loves them, and that is all that they want. I
feel good about the accomplishments that I have had within my community.
