Physical Activity Survey

For this physical activity survey, I chose to interview a variety of age groups on the amount of physical activity they get on a regular basis. The physical activity that I focused on ranged from general activity (walking the dog, gardening, etc.), recreational activity, strength/flexibility and leisure activities, and also free time activities such as watching TV, or playing computer games. The participants were 4 college students (including myself) between the ages of 18-21 (female) and 2 family members ages 49 (female) and 54 (male). Next was how many minutes did you walk yesterday? All the college subjects walked on average about 75 minutes yesterday and this average were calculated based on walking to class. We explained that other than walking to and from class, driving and other modes of transportation were preferred and used instead. However one the college students went to the grocery store, which accounted for an additional 20 minutes while shopping. The one of the older adult subjects walked less than the college students because of their sedentary job. The time walked was about 50 minutes that day opposed to the second older adult who worked in Wal-Mart as a sale associate, and was required to walk on average 150 minutes. Leisure or walking for exercises was not accounted for because none of the participants had time for this type of physical activity.

and because of this we tend to sit around lot on the computer or watching TV. On average, most of my participants have said that they dont move enough because of their jobs and also because of their busy school schedule. I personal do not move enough because after a long day of three classes, all I want to do is get something to eat and go sit in my room and take a nap.
