Should students be allowed to pray in public schools? Alot of debates about school prayer involves morals, rights, and separation of church and state. Although some people believe it is inappropriate to mix religion and school, there are many good reasons for a constitutional amendment to permit voluntary prayer in schools.
To begin with, some might argue that it is easy to blame everything bad in America upon the absence of school prayer, but since the court outlawed prayer in schools, our nation has been in steady moral decline. Finally, there is the issue of church and state. Some people feel that religious beliefs have flourished in this country, not in spite of, but because of the constitutional separation of church and state. The first amendment does not separate God and government, but actually encourages religion. It reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof". It says nothing about "separation of church and state".
