How many different variations of pride are there? Are there many or just one or two? To tell the truth, it depends on the person. Some people believe in one or two variations while still others believe in many such as the following: the pride of one's accomplishments, one's self-pride, the pride of one's country, and the pride of doing something for someone else.
So many people take pride in their own accomplishments. Whether it is having a career high in a basketball game or having the best band performance of their life, someone can have pride in it. The pride of one's self can be taken a few different ways. One person may interpret it the same as having the pride of one's accomplishments. For example, one can be proud of winning or just completing a marathon. Another person may take self-pride as the feeling you get when you receive a compliment. I have interpreted self-pride this way many times. The majority of the time is when I try and impress my dad. Every time I perform at the top of my game during my volleyball games, my father always gives me a gigantic compliment such as "I'm so proud that you are my son. You did great out there and even though your team may have lost, all I could ask was for you to work your butt off." Whenever my father says something along those lines, I get all giddy and feel pride welling up inside.
