is randomly choosing people at random times to check for traces of illegal substances in their system. The fourth amendment states that searches should not be performed unless there is a probable cause to do so. Clearly, the concept of random drug testing is in violation of this amendment.
In school, pop quizzes are given to ensure that students are doing their homework, putting adequate study time in, and paying attention in class. It is the job of the school to monitor the study habits of a student and make sure that they are staying on task. However, it is not the job of the school to monitor the personal lives of the students and the activities which they may be participating in at home. The government has created a separate system for dealing with that, called the law enforcement system. The school system should put in a greater effort in bettering their methods instead of concerning themselves with other agendas that they are not entitled to interfere with.
