left school. Later, His first published poem “My butterfly: an Elegy” was published in the New York literary journal “The independent” in 1894. Where he met his wife Elinor Miriam White; they both went to a Massachusetts High School where they both shared valedictorian honors. Frost’s wife was the biggest inspiration in his poetry career. After getting married they operated a farm in Derry, New Hampshire and had taught at Derry’s Pinkerton Academy. Later in 1912 Frost sold his farm and moved to England where he devoted most of his time to his writing. In the 1920’s he was the most well-known poet in America and had received four Pulitzer Prizes for his poetry.
This poem is filled with Couplets. A couplet is a pair of lines that rhyme and are the same length. For example in lines 1-2 “Nature’s first green is gold / Her hardest hue to hold.” (1-2).
