Romeo and Juliet

Throughout the passage Juliet expresses how she feels while waiting for Romeo. Juliet describes herself as bored and shows eagerness to be with the one she loves. The passage has different kinds of literary techniques such as imagery, metaphors, and rhythmic intensity to help portray her emotions while she awaits the return of Romeo.
As the day goes by Juliet becomes more and more excited and anxious to have Romeo come to her. “Come, night. Come, Romeo. Come, thou day in night” (3.2 17). At the beginning of the passage, Juliet repeats the word “come,” which shows her eagerness for him. this passage Juliet compares Romeo to nighttime. The reason for this comparison is that the first time she met Romeo was at night during her family’s traditional and annual masquerade party. At the masquerade party they danced together until they revealed themselves and then she immediately fell in love and decided that she didn’t want to be with anyone else. Then Romeo meets her at the balcony during the night so that no one will spot him. Then Juliet sends her nurse to go find Romeo and he tells the Nurse that he will come get her during the night so that they can be married by Friar Lawrence. Night becomes symbolic of their love. The darkness and secrecy of night is describes their relationship and passion.
