Salem
There are different types of cities in America, some large some small, some nice some dirty, some rich some poor, and some that are always changing. My city, Salem that is, is one of those that are always changing, becoming not only more and more dense, but more "ghetto" as time goes on. Me, I'm not ghetto, in fact I haven't always lived in Salem. I grew up moving from one small town to the next, all over the north shore, but I've always had a home in Salem. My parents divorced when I was young and while my dad stayed in Salem, my mom and I experienced life all over the north shore. was what originally got us famous. I guess it became clear that Salem would turn into a town that thrived off of tourism, so as they started to flourish, they started to expand. With expansion of course, came more people, all kinds of people, rich, poor, struggling, we have them all.
It seemed like Salem went from small town to big city overnight. With it becoming a bigger and bigger city, it started to develop sections. There was north Salem, which basically resembled an average, middle class, small town. There was the historic district, for the rich, which had all the old mansions from the 1700's. There was downtown, which is where all the excitement happens, and finally, the point, or the ghetto. This is where all the action is. Salem had its mini version of the Bronx of New York.
