Taming of the Shrew

Many men in the Elizabethan Era were known to be caring towards their loved ones. Let it be wife or child, parent or friend this affection was immense. But Petruchio, one of the main characters in Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, defiantly did not fit in this category. He was a greedy bachelor who was desperately in search of a wealthy wife. So, when he heard of Katherine Minola/Kate, the beastly, outspoken, rich woman he was instantly ready to marry her. Petruchio’s sudden decision was not mainly related to Katherine’s wealth but was also connected to the challenge of taming her.
