One thing that has become a part of everybody's lives would definitely be the television. Even those who would say that they do not watch television, cannot argue that they are surrounded by those who do. Mcluhan (1964) theorized that technology will become an enhancement of our human body in order to better it and also to better its functional value and also that we will all be united in a global village. He proposes it is the media itself, and not the content which are carried by them, that we should make the focus of our study. Mcluhan(1964) stated that a medium affects the society in which it plays a role but it does not affect them by the content that is delivered by it but rather the characteristics of the medium itself. He used the light bulb to explain what he meant. A light bulb does not have any content like a newspaper which have articles or a television with it programs, but still the light bulb is a medium which has a social effect.
