The way people look at celebrities has changed. In the early to mid 20th centuries, celebrities were respected, not sought after like a prize. Yes, you wanted to meet them, but not try to dig into their personal lives. It was rude to ask them about something you heard about in the papers. This isn’t the case anymore, sadly.

As seen in the poem Richard Cory and The Great Gatsby, when you saw a celebrity walking around on the street 80 years ago, you said a polite hello and a good day, and you were on your way. Now, when people see celebrities, they scream and crowd around the person, immediately making them feel awkward and worried. ...

Sure there was gossip between the people, but whatever information started the rumor came from friends and family of said person. Not from people the famous guy has never met. Celebrities didn’t have investigators for tabloids chasing them around, trying to get the dirt on them. With all these changes to how they are treated, the celebrities themselves have changed as well.
