The Crucible: Character Transformation

A severe test or trial of patience and belief is the ultimate definition for The Crucible. In The Crucible, 19 of the executed innocent people had to withstand the crucibles of what they believed in. Many of the characters gave false confessions of them being with the devil, while some died in honor. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, many characters went through a transformation such as Reverend Hale, and many did not such as Abigail Williams and John Proctor.
Sometimes, changes can really be an eye opener and that was the case for Reverend Hale. Reverend Hale is described as “a tight-skinned, eager eyed intellectual,” by Miller (p. 34). One word to describe Hale would be naļve. ...

came into his senses, realizing Abigail was a liar. Towards the end of the play, Hale was trying to save the ones sentenced to be hanged. In the last act of the play, Hale could be described as wise. He tried to convince the accused to confess because; saving your life is more important then dying.
Change is good, but not everyone goes through it. Abigail Williams, the antagonist of the play, stays consistent with her attitude throughout the play. She is the most selfish character in the play. She threatens all of the girls that she will kill them if they speak of the truth of what they did in the forest. One of the girls insists they will only get whipped for dancing, but Abigail still does not agree thus leading too all the chaos in Salem. After realizing everyone believes her, she tries to accuse Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail envies Elizabeth because she loves Elizabeth’s husband, and believes once Elizabeth dies John will come back to her. The havoc in Salem grows ...
