A Storm of Emotion

Weather, a force of nature, can take a personâ€™s spirits from the top of a mountain and cause them to come crashing down. In F. Scott Fitzgeraldâ€™s book The Great Gatsby, the weather mirrors drastic changes in emotions and the overall mood of each situation because when there is a major shift in the characterâ€™s emotions and mood of the scenario, the weather accommodates the change. The rain, extremely hot weather, and sunshine represent the weather in a way that matches the emotional tone of the characters. These symbols become apparent when a big event is taking place, causing the characters disposition to be altered.
