It costs these cities 2,000 dollars to arrest, try, and incarcerate one prostitute. This is money the police department could save or use elsewhere if prostitution was not a crime.
If prostitution became a new market it could be regulated like it is in the Nevada counties and other countries. This regulation creates a safer environment for those involved. "By recognizing [prostitution] as paid labor, governments can guarantee fair treatment as well as safe and healthy work environments." (Boustan).
Opponents of prostitution often say that it's violence against women. 97% of in house prostitutes report having a higher self esteem after their occupation than before.
