The Metamorphosis


In by Franz Kafka, it is an autobiographical story that centers on the conflict between the family and the son. Franz Kafka started the story by an amusing beginning as a young man who transformed overnight into a giant beetle-like insect. It becomes an object of disgrace to his family, an outsider in his own home, and a quintessentially alienated man. The family goes through an even bigger transformation than Gregor himself. Therefore the real metamorphosis occurs to the family rather than Gregor Samas.

Gregor, who was once fairly self-sufficient, must now rely on his parents for food and shelter. After Gregor’s transformed, it is not a metamorphosis of himself physically, but it is the larger metamorphosis of the family.
