What makes The Parthenon of the most well-known over many of the grand structures built during the ancient Greek times? When anyone mentions The Parthenon anyone listening automatically knows the exact building they are referring to. There are few structures that hold such a reputation, similar to how Great Pyramids of Egypt hold such a reputation. The Parthenon stood, originally, to be a tribute to Athena their goddess of War. Athenians originally built the great Parthenon as a tribute to Athena their Goddess of war. This was a temple built to house a statue tribute to the goddess, and if even included a room for the treasures of Athena. There were many other statues that surrounded it that were situated between the two rings of columns. Unfortunately the original temple was destroyed during the Persian invasion and what was left was used to rebuild parts of Acropolis. The temple was eventually rebuilt and used until around 300AD where it was converted for Christian use.

Starting with the front one is met with a litter of pieces surrounding the area. Looking up the hill one views a very large pillared structure sitting on an open hill. The roof is missing and the structure stones have large pieces that have come out of them. However one has to remember that this structure is nearly 2500 years old.
