The Plague

Father Paneloux gives two sermons throughout the novel . Throughout the novel many people lose their faith due to their struggles with the terrible plague. Father Paneloux speaks about and why it is happening. Father Paneloux’s faith is tested just like the citizens of Oran throughout the novel.
In Father Paneloux’s first sermon He feels that was sent from God because the people in Oran hadn’t repented for their sins. “Calamity has come on you, my brethren, and, you my brethren, you deserved it” (Camus p.94).
