Life is born from pupa that are hatched inside the ball. The likenesses of scarab beetle are found in abundance in Egyptian archaeology. Some are true representations and others are more abstract in nature. Some are inscribed in hieroglyphics and others are more plainly decorated or undecorated.
Many fine collections of scarabs from Egypt exist in collections. One of the most famous scarabs is the Scarab of Wah. The focus of this research will be to gain an understanding of this piece through examination and by comparison to the Heart Scarab of Hatnofer. Both of these scarabs are housed in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, located 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street in New York.
