The Zoo Story

The Zoo Story is written by Edward Albee in New York in 1958. When Albee finishes writing the play in two weeks, he passes from publisher to publisher, director to director but no one is interested in his play. Albee thought that the play was really bad ā€“ it did not match with peopleā€™s taste. There was no one interested in the play because at that time American people used to traditional and conventional drama. They believe that a play should have some characteristics such as exposition, rising action, climax and resolution, otherwise, a play would be rejected.
