in to the program: since I am a first generation college student. Afterwords, I scheduled a time to meet with a mentoring advisor the following Monday.

On Monday afternoon before going to lunch, I went to my advising appointment. My advisor gave many papers containing information about the program. She also gave me some items everyone who joins the mentoring program receives.

My mentoring advisor brought my grades up on her computer. I was failing two of my classes and barely passing the other three. My advisor started to ask me a lot of questions about why I thought my grades were so pour.

I started to answer her questions about how much time I spent studying and working on homework. She advised me to spend at least one hour studying for each of my classes every day but preferably to study two times the length of the class I was taking every week.

that no one was going to manage my time for me anymore, but I did not make a plan to be sure my time management would be good. I just started out the semester going with the flow of things.

The lesson on time management is one I should have considered while I was still in high school. I did not take it into consideration; therefore I did not gradute from high skool with the grades I would have liked to have.

I just trusted that other people telling me what to do and when to do it would be good. I was quite wrong about the matter. It takes more than what other people tell you to do to be successful in life.
