To Kill A Mockingbird Journal

Summer 1933

Today was maybe the second day of summer? I see the Finch kids and the new kid, Dill. I think they're playing with a tire. I see scout position herself into the tire as Jem and Dill set her off to roll. I hope Nathan can let me play with them one day.

Scout ends up rolling onto my front porch. I see the fear in her eyes and I don't understand why she's so scared, I would never hurt anyone. I see Jem and Dill run towards Scout to get out of my porch, but I don't want her to.

As Scout leaves, I peek my head out of the curtain. I think Jem saw me, but I'm not quite sure.

September 1933

The school season is rolling around once again. I always see Jem and Scout ...

It's almost 3pm and I hear Scout and Jem walking home. They stop by the tree hole to check if there's anything. Jem's hand touches the box that holds the coins, and grabis it. Once Jem got the box opened, he was quite amused how old the coins were. Scout shared a similar expression as Jem.

August 1934

It was the day before school started again. I heard rustling in my backyard and went to check it out. I saw Jem, Dill, and Scout on the on the back porch. I saw Nathan with his rifle in his hand.

All I heard next were gunshots. I know Nathan would never shoot a child. Nathan returns inside the house and I notice Jem's pants stuck on the fence, and I go out and grab `em. I tried sewing them like how mama does, and returned the pants folded on the other side of the fence for Jem to get them.

October 1934
