To Kill A Mockingbird: The Significance of the Title

A mockingbird is a bird that is means no harm to anyone and is very peaceful and calm. The novel isn't about mockingbirds but a metaphorical symbolism to the concept of innocence .The image of the mockingbird occurs frequently throughout the book, hence it shows the significance of the title. People like Boo Radley, Tom Robinson and Scout are examples of mockingbirds as they are all harmless to people and innocent in the society.

Arthur Boo Radley is an example of a mockingbird in the novel. He was locked up in his house for 25 years, when he was in front of everyone on the end he would not talk to anyone and had lack of speech. Jem described Boo as " Boo was about six-and-a-half feet ...
