Whether we choose to or not, everyday we interact with one another. Sometimes we may not like each other, but those we do enjoy interacting with are usually viewed as friends. There is more than that for someone to be considered a friend. A friend is not only someone we enjoy spending time with but also someone with whom we share trust, the most important aspect in a friendship. Acquaintances and people we socialize with are often mistaken as friends because of a unestablished trust; however, a true friendship with a best friend is based on a reciprocal bond of trust.

however, these people would not go out of their way for us, although they enjoy spending time with us. We can share more detail in our personal lives than we would with an acquaintance, but we never get in depth with our feelings or emotions. This relationship is not permanent, because people change through life. We may not talk to or see our high school buddies, or even friends we had the last semester in college. Often times the strength of a relationship with a buddy is tested through trust. At times they may not be reliable. In situations when we need someone the most, they probably would choose to go out and have fun instead of listening to our troubles. Confiding in them is not always the right thing to do, because they may not keep everything we tell them to themselves. As soon as the shared interest we have with them is gone, we will begin to realize the strength of our relationship was not strong.
