The unemployment rate is one of the most important statistics of the performance of a country's economy. Most economists agree that a rate of 4.5 percent constitutes "full employment" levels, and a rate higher than this is a cause for concern. The unemployment rate is released monthly by most countries and uses various methods of data collection. Before we discuss what the unemployment rate is, we need to look at some other terms that will help us have a better understanding of unemployment.
