World War I showed the separation of the rich, and the lower class. The rich just got richer, while the poor went and fought the battles. "The master class has always declared the war; the subject class has always fought the battles. The master class has all to gain and nothing to lose, while the subject class has nothing to gain and all to lose-especially their lives..." (Eugene V. Debs, Page 169) This is a perfect example of how some Americans felt toward the war.
