Differing Levels of Accountability and Responsibility For Individual Professions
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page discussion of the observation that liability one faces for their actions often varies according to the particulars of the situation. Society holds some individuals and professions to higher standards of legal accountability and responsibility than we do other individuals and professions. This variance is justified by the potential impact an action can have. When a reporter makes a mistake in a magazine article, for example, you can run a correction but when a health care worker makes a mistake someones life might hang in the balance. Differing levels of accountability are thus justified by the particulars of a situation. The author provides additional examples of corporate responsibility to illustrate the differences in compliance-based verses value-based approach to accountability. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Digitech: Ethical Issue
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Sue knew her decision to bury the mistake was not the right decision or she would not have anguished over not having a few more days to find the error. However, she was up against a deadline that - in all reality - may have led to her job being compromised and possibly worse. So she did what many would do in that situation: fudge the books. This does not automatically mean Sue is a deceitful person, but it does illustrate how living up to one's moral and ethical standards can be a most difficult challenge, with decisions that not only impact that individual but also many others both directly and indirectly involved. Bibliography lists 1 source.
