Yellow journalism, the sensationalistic tactics that opened up an entirely new venue of newspaper reporting, utilized some of the most unscrupulous tactics in order to sell a story. The primary participants in this era of underhanded journalism were William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, both highly talented and shrewd publishers.
