Correlation between the ACT and ARRT Tests; A Research Proposal

In this 9 page paper there is a consideration of two types of test that are used to ascertain a candidates intellectual abilities. The first test is the more well known ACT Assessment, one of the two major educational assessment tests used in the United States, and the second in the lesser known American Registry of Technology ARRT Test. The first part of the paper introduces the reasons for a study into the possible correlation between the two results, and this is then looked at in m ore details by the second section, which is a literature review.
The literature is obtained from a wide range of sources, popular and academic press, as well as some statistics that have been provided directly by the student. These are then considered for the patterns over the years since 1995 and the ways in which thy may be seen to correlate directly or inversely with each other.
The final part of the paper is a suggestion of a methodology that could be used in order to undertake a more in-depth primary study of the subject. Methods suggested include the mathematical analysis of the results using regression and statistical analysis as well as the conducting of a study with specially chosen research groups.

Cost-Benefit Analysis of Proposition 82

A 17 page paper discussing the possible benefits of California's Proposition 82, which if passed will provide access to universal (voluntary) preschool for all 4-year-old children in the state, followed by a cost-benefit analysis of the effects of the initiative. If approved, Proposition 82 will require that the state of California provide universal preschool of at least a half day for 180 days during the year for all of the state's four-year-olds. It is to be funded with an additional state income tax of 1.7 percent on taxable incomes over $400,000 for individuals; $544,457 for heads-of-household and $800,000 for married couples. Superficially the measure appears to be workable and fair, but closer analysis reveals that the measure constitutes a lose-lose scenario for all involved, including the 22,000 additional preschoolers who directly benefit from the program. Cultural And Gender Influences In Education And Organizations

20 pages in length. Education is becoming an elusive entity for many students who are not equipped to learn the 'American' way. The underpinning of socioeconomic, gender, racial and cultural components often erects barriers that prevent certain populations from engaging in the learning process with their Caucasian counterparts. Indeed, the extent to which the academic process is skewed toward American teaching ideals is both grand and far-reaching; that such marginalizing aspects as language deficiency, gender construct, stereotype vulnerability and standardized testing serve to segregate some student populations from receiving an equal education speaks to the manner by which different backgrounds may cause students difficulty in fitting in with a particular classroom culture, often instigating negative influence upon the self-esteem, perceived abilities as well as how they approach their studies and career choices.
