[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page essay that offers analyses of two articles on multicultural education. Lisa Delpit's essay "Education in a multicultural society, our future's greatest challenge" (1992) and John Ogbu's "Understanding cultural diversity and learning" (1992) both address the difficulties of meeting the needs of a diverse student population. Examination of these two articles shows that these two experts in the field of multicultural education are in agreement that American schools still have a long way to go before the US educational system will be in a position to address the needs of children whose backgrounds are outside the white mainstream.
