Food Addiction / The Body Knows
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper illustrating aspects of food addiction. Written as a narrative, the paper mentions many of the points of blame food addicts assign to their condition—mother was always heavy, too; everyone says it's only a matter of will power. But there are other, less obvious reasons some people eat without even being aware of it. Some of it can be habit, but it's also a reaction to stimuli that often are negative or a poor self image that needs physical reinforcement. There are organizations to help, just as there are for that one addicted to alcohol, but food is an insidious thing. The alcoholic can simply resolve never to drink again. The food addict is forced to relearn (or learn) why and when to eat. Bibliography lists 1 source.
