A review of the research that has been conducted in our efforts to better understand this organism and its threat to human health. Determining the appropriate level of protection from food borne listeriosis is complicated by a number of factors. These include the need to establish the maximum frequency and/or concentration of the bacterium in RTE meat at the time of consumption and the insurance of appropriate hygiene practices in production and storage. Low Sodium Diets for Children: The Positives and Negatives

An 8 page discussion of the feasibility of implementing low sodium diets for children. Contends that the regulation of sodium is a critical facet of any diet. In children, however, the benefits of restricting sodium intake are often controversial. Indeed, sodium is a critical component of a childs physiology. Too little sodium can be just as adverse as too much sodium. In children with special dietary concerns, such as those with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, Duchene muscular dystrophy, Becker muscular dystrophy, and a variety of heart conditions, a low sodium diet is imperative.
