The physician receives an incentive for keeping down costs associated with his or her caseload, which in turn establishes an understanding between provider and practitioner as to just how many additional diagnostic and medical procedures as well as what type of medication patients will be permitted to have. The tactics by which this objective is achieved illustrate the motivational factor of some incentive systems is more effective than others, with financial options an attractive option to many. In short, the advantages of effective incentives in health care are of no benefit to the insured but rather a motivating factor for practitioners to secure economic recompense.
