Nationalism And Ethnic War

On April 1, 1904, NY's "tenant unions" & organizations went on strike-- refusing to pay rent until their demands were met. In this 12 page research paper, the writer details specific "battles" of the Tenant Movement-- relevant situations, and their outcomes. An overview of 20th century history and the continuing struggle for tenant's rights in New York is presented, as are the efforts of various organizations such as the New York State Tenant and Neighborhood Coalition (NYSTNC). The cases provided demonstrate that when workers' real wages are squeezed by inflation or depression, in addition to conflicts at the point of production, responses occur at household level in the form of struggles in the reproductive sphere (demands for rent reductions, etc.).
