I chose this individual because Albert Einstein is the greatest physicist of all time. A genius like him made many contributions to physics. I wanted to know more about him, about his life and his inventions. I know I will learn many things while doing the assignment on him. I had already heard of him while I was studying in primary school. I find it amazing that a person can achieve so much in a lifetime.

in Ulm, Germany. His parents were Hermann and Pauline Einstein. His father was an electrical engineer who had a small electrical contracting firm. Six weeks after Albert Einstein was born, the family moved to Munich where his father founded an electrical equipment manufacturing company, where his sister was born on November 18, 1881. In 1894 they moved to Italy because the business had not been successful.

When he was very young he was slow in development. He did not speak until he was two years old and even when he was older he had trouble answering a question. His teachers thought he would never be successful at anything.

As a child, Einstein never observed Jewish religious practices. In elementary school he was the only Jew in a Catholic school. He attended a high school called Luitpold Gymnasium but he was bored at the school. At the age of five, Einstein was greatly influenced by a pocket compass given to him by his father. Einstein found work as an assistant professor and eventually as a full professor of theoretical physics. He preferred researching to teaching and in 1914 he accepted a paid research position in Berlin, Germany. In 1933 the rise of Nazi power in Germany, meant Einstein had to resigned from his work in Berlin and go to the United States, where he took up residence in Princeton, New Jersey and assumed a position on the faculty of Princeton´s Institute for Advanced Study.
