The American Crisis and Revolution

The American Revolution was the result of various crises involving misunderstandings resulting from communication gaps between Great Britain and the American colonies. These led to difficulties in perception, and on occasion delusions formed part of the crisis leading to war. Social, economic and political problems also contributed to the crisis prevalent during this time.

were also not represented in Parliament, this was also used as an argument against the law-making authority of the British government within the borders of the colonies. This American opposition to British authority lasted for ten years. The rebellion took various forms, including the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the convening of the Second Continental Congress, as well as declarations, resolutions, and petitions. On a less formal level demonstrations such as burning effigies and the notorious "Boston Tea Party" were carried out.

Political activities to protest British policy were gradually formalized to establish specific entities to argue the American cause. Representatives from the colonies for example formed the Continental Congress. This Congress established four elements of primary importance towards creating the independent American nation.
