Angela's Ashes is memoir written by Frank McCourt. The memoir begins with a description of how his parents, Angela Sheehan and Malachy McCourt, met in New York City and the forced marriage that came from Angela's impregnation with Frank. McCourt's memoir reflects on his, as he describes it, ``miserable Irish Catholic childhood''. The memoir is told in an unique way that is is able to emotionally attach the reader through Frank's life experiences. Frank McCourt's uses an evolving innocence narrative technique. family, Malachy resumed his alcoholism, while Angela fell into a state of a deep depression that rendered her unstable as a mother. During this event, Frank is a young boy that is easily confused by complex concepts such as death. This can be interpreted from following quote: ``[...] He can't have Margaret anymore because she's like the dog in the street that was taken away. I don't know why she was taken away'' (43). He has a diminutive idea but does not comprehend entirety the death of his sister.. The death of Margaret took a massive toll on the entire family and is ultimately the reason for the relocation of the McCourts to Limerick.
