Brown Vs Board Of Education

The Brown decision had a major effect on Americans. This case changed the way many would live their lives forever.
By the 1920’s many civil rights groups had decided that the Plessy decision did not give equal rights to black Americans and had to be overturned. The lead group trying to get the Plessy decision overturned was the NAACP. They made up a plan to weaken the Plessy decision. The way this plan would work was, they would first choose a law denying a group equal rights. Then they would find someone who has suffered from that law. They would then take the cases up through appeals to the Supreme Court. They would also work on many cases at the same time to get to their goal ...

Clark also had a large role in the case with his doll experiment. This experiment had four dolls, two female and two males, with one black male and one white male. There were also one white female and one black female. The experiment asked questions to children who would respond by picking up the doll. Some questions were, which doll is the nice doll? Which is the doll would you want to play with? Which is the bad doll? All of these questions and others were asked to black children. Kenneth Clark concluded that this hurt the blacks mentally and also hurt their learning ability.
Once the court decided what the decision would be, Chief Justice Earl Warren answered the six questions that Thurgood Marshall originally asked the court. The main point of the final decision was that separate but equal is not constitutional and is not giving equal protection of the laws granted by the 14th amendment.
