Character Analysis of Peyton Farquhar

During the Civil War, young male sympathizers enlist in the confederate army. Some die in an effort to contribute because thet are inexperienced, lack the knowledge and cunning to be successful. Peyton Farquhar in " An Occurrance at Owl Creek Bridge" was born into a high society family, leads a life of leisure. He's desperate to prove his loyalty and devotion to the confederacy, but has ulterior motives to achieve distinction which he chooses over responsibilty to his familyand pays the ultimate price of death.
