I remember sitting in front of the television, bored and tired, flipping through the channels. I felt as though my life was going nowhere at this rate. That was when my hand stopped at one channel, my eyes on the screen in complete amazement. I watched in interest as these professional tap dancers came up on stage and started tapping their way across the dance floor. I watched in awe; not necessarily at the clothes, but at their shoes. The rhythm of those tap shoes made me feel excited. I pointed at the screen: This is what I wanted to do.

after school programs that existed in elementary school. The classes may be easy compared to more professional ones, but it helped me grow interest in everything. Tap dancing to me was not only a turning point in my life, but also an inspiration to try other activities that may have sparked some interest. I did not realize how much I loved tap dancing until I took the classes, which lead me to wonder if there were other things that would spark the same interest, so I took as many classes and chances there were available to me both in and out of school. I took dance lessons from modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, and hula dancing. For instruments, I tried the piano, violin, and recorder. I also took drawing, acting, chorus, swimming, yoga, and martial art classes. Some I take more seriously than others, but in the end I learned through these experiences that I was not afraid of trying new things and exploring my interests.
