Communication skills are a necessity and in today’s society, they are something that more and more people are becoming less familiar with. The internet and the increasing number of cell phones have caused people to lose contact with face-to-face human interaction. This creates a greater opportunity for communication barriers. There are many communication barriers and breakdowns that arise in the business world, but by applying a few simple techniques these obstacles will be able to be overcome.

You should respond whether you have the information available or simply to inform the client that you will be responding as soon as possible with relevant information. You should also listen carefully to your client’s needs and concerns. In doing so, you will understand exactly what it is your client is asking for and you will be able to meet their needs. A third key to great communication skills is speaking clearly and enthusiastically. By doing this, you convey the message that you are very knowledgeable of the information at hand.
