The Heart of Darkness by Francesca Delbanco is an article about
depression. The article defines depression and the means to cope with it.
Depression is caused by many things in life from a death in a family or
friend, the feeling of an low self esteem to a disastrous relationship with
a mate or companion. The authors article, states that everyone in their
lifetime had been through it before. The article also states that
depression is a state where one should not ignore because it may turn out
to be worse then it seems. Some people who face depression cannot cope with
their life so they turn to a method in which they think will solve their
