, (1961-1997), was not only a wonderful mother to her two sons William and Harry, but was and is one of the greatest humanitarians of the century. Fulfilling the material role before the critical eye of the both the world and her in-laws was surely a daunting task. She performed admirably while giving her sons a funfilled, loving, childhood without the typical “royal” formalities. She is a true “Renaissance” woman known through out the world for her compassion, dignity, glamour, and the way she touched the lives of those she knew and loved.

During her often turbulent 17 years in the world’s spotlight, Diana’s honest and sincere sympathy for those in need remained constant. She traveled thousands of miles a year in support of her causes, even to dangerous locales in Bosnia and Angola. “She did things like this because she wanted to from her heart.” Diana chose issues that touched people directly. In 1987, when many still feared AIDS could be contracted through casual contact, she calmly offered her ungloved hand to a patient at a London hospital. Thus, showing the world in her eyes, that not only to her were those with the AIDS virus not reviled, but that she was truly the “people’s princess.”
