I went to The Kimmel Center this evening, inside was the Verizon Hall where the show was held. The composer was Milan-born conductor Gianandrea Noseda, tonight was his Philadelphia Orchestra debut, he is music director of the Teatro Regio in Turin and for one of his pieces teams up with American pianist Garrick Ohlsson for the bustling, unconventional Piano Concerto No. 5 by Prokofiev, which the composer initially dubbed "Music for Piano and Orchestra."

who was directly to the left of the conductor started to "warm up" his instrument, the rest of the orchestra followed I later found out this was called the oboe. I've always heard that noise randomly on tv or in a movie but never heard it live before, it was so crisp.
The conductor smacks his baton a few times and it gets dead silent. The pianist procceds to go up and down the piano for about 8 beats gracefully playing a melody as violins and cellos softly and slowly rise in volume starting to change it into a harmony and then BOOM the concerto lets off a particularly bouncy, even roaring atmosphere.
The movements from one through three have similar themes, the first and third begin very similarly also with A-B-A form each time, I was enthralled with all three movements because of their rhythm.
