Fracking

Fracking is something that not many Americans have heard of but everyone should know what fracking is. Hydraulic fracturing also known as “fracking” is a new drilling technology which makes it possible to reach natural gas reserves in the earth. This is important because having natural gas from our own country would be cheaper than getting it from foreign countries and would also created more jobs for Americans who need them.
Fracking lets drillers collect natural gas trapped in underground rock known as shale rock. After drilling through all different angles into the ground water, sand, and chemicals are pumped into a well, cracking the rock and the gas is released.

At first someone learning about fracking for the first time would say it was a good idea, but after watching Gasland their opinion could change. Seeing other people from your own country suffer from something, can drastically change your opinion because the problem seems so close to you.
