Hamlet's Revenge


Hamlet is out for blood. He must seek revenge against his uncle because his uncle murdered his father. Hamlet takes a long time in getting revenge because he is delayed by the traits in his character. He hesitates to get revenge because he cannot make any decisions, is dominated by emotion and tormented by the scruples of his conscience. Hamlet’s plan was to kill his uncle from the beginning; however, Hamlet fails to get revenge right away.
Hamlet is indecisive. He is faced with a problem and needs to choose a way to resolve the problem. Hamlet cannot put a plan into effect because of his indecisiveness. Once the decision is made, everything else stems from that, but Hamlet is ...

Hamlet is contemplating whether it is better to continue living or not, and is stating the positive and negative effects of it. He goes on and on about life and death, but never comes to a decision about whether or not he should live or die. Hamlet cannot make a final choice and if he cannot make a choice dealing with himself, then he cannot decide what to do with Claudius. He is not able to advance beyond what he feels and thus prolongs his ideas to get revenge.
Hamlet is dominated by emotion, but shows little action. He is very passionate and feels strongly against his uncle Claudius, but never attempts to kill him. Hamlet’s rage alone should be enough to provide the motivation in seeking revenge, but it does not seem to work for him. Hamlet’s actions do not speak for what he is feeling.
