Although, there were many achievements throughout history that deeply impacted things we use today, one of the most important inventions of technology is known as the printing press (Rayward 687). The printing press is defined as, a machine that transfers lettering and images by contact with various forms of inked surface onto paper or similar material. 500 years ago, the first printing press was established in Germany between 1146 and 1450 by a man named, Johann Gutenberg (Chappell 26).

came the demand for more books by the educated middle class, schools, and universities. During this time, keeping track of important information was a major problem for everyone. The invention of the printing press helped fix this problem in many ways. It's ability to mass produce material for the schools was paramount in education. It gave students the ability to learn together at the same time while having their own books to read from and to go at the pace that best suited them (Dittmar 1135).
