Joining the National Guard

The thing what has significantly influenced me was joining the National Guard. I have been in the NATIONAL GUARD for eleven years. I joined the NATIONAL GUARD 07 November 2000. I left for basic training 10 July 2001 a month after I graduated high school.
I was seventeen and a senior in high school. It was career day at school. I was walking around looking at the different options for life after high school and didn't really know what direction I wanted to go. I stopped at the NATIONAL GUARD booth and talk to the recruiter. for life after high school. When the recruiter got the results of the test he came back out to the house. He showed me a lot of different options. I narrowed it down to three fields I wanted to look into. First was a medic. I choose this field because I had taken a first responder class in high school and really liked it. The second was Communication because he said it would help me get a good job once I got done with training. The third was Military Police only because I had a friend from high school that was going in as an MP. Now it's time to go to MEPS.
Now that I had decided what job I wanted it was time to sign the contract. Once I signed the contract I had to go to MEPS (Military Entrance Process Station). At MEPS I had to take a drug test, physical and find a unit for me to go into after I finished basic training.
