A person's learning style is the sensory mode in which he or she learns best. Everyone processes and learns new information in different ways. For example, some people learn best through seeing. Visual learners absorb the material best by being able to see pictures, diagrams, or demonstrations (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). Auditory learners learn best through listening. Kinesthetic learners learn by moving, doing, and touching.

I believe the choices I have made in life reflect my learning style. I have always played sports and prefer being hands on in anything that I do. I also believe this reflects on the jobs I have had throughout my life. I have always leaned towards jobs where I was able to learn by watching someone else and work with my hands. I definitely respond better to visual aids or instructions rather than just being told what to do. Being a paratrooper in the Army was a perfect fit for me as everything we do is visual and hands on. I have felt very comfortable during my time as a paratrooper. I believe the combination of my learning styles allowed me to succeed and benefited me in every way.

I am excited to be back in school but nervous at the same time as it has been 14 years since I last attended a college course. I feel that taking classes online will benefit me as I am older than the majority of college students and it gives me the freedom to learn at my pace and when I have ...
